HOW TO USE "CHEMICAL SEARCH" FUNCTION

The E-Plan provides detailed information on more than 24,000 chemicals, including all the chemicals used in large amounts in the United States and all the chemicals regulated under major environmental laws. Linking to E-Plan portal and going to the gChemical Searchh feature immediately gives users the detailed information on a chemical including;

  • Emergency Response Guide (ERG)
  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS) - formerly known as Material Safety Data Sheets or MSDSs)
  • Coast Guard Chemical Hazards Response Information System (CHRIS) data
  • Chemical Profile Data

Here are some examples you can try:

Example 1: Search for a specific chemical by specifying common chemical name.

Step 1: Click the Chemical Search option in the left pane.

Step 2: Enter chlorine in the Chemical Name text box and select the Search button.

Step 4: The Chemical Search Result appears.

 

Example 2: Search for chemical by specifying CAS number.

Step 1: Click the Chemical Search option in the left pane.

Step 2: Enter CAS number in the CAS Number text box.

Step 3: Click Search.

Step 4: The Chemical Search Result appears.

 

Example 3: Search for facility cheimical by providing the NFPA code.

Step 1: Click the Chemical Search option in the left pane.

Step 2: Enter the value of H,F,R,S . For example, enter the value of H and F as given below.

  • H: 1
  • F: 2

Step 3: Click Search.

Step 4: The Chemical Search Result appears.

 

Example 4: Search for chemical by providing the UNDOT number

Step 1: Click the Chemical Search option in the left pane.

Step 2: Enter 1993 in the UNDOT number text box.

Step 3: Click Search.

Step 4: The Chemical Search Result appears.
